In August of 2009, a group of about 16 writers met for the first time at the coffee shop inside the Books-A-Million store at the Highlands in Triadelphia, W.Va. They came from all over the Wheeling, WV area and from bordering eastern Ohio to share their love of writing. The group gelled into what would become the Ohio Valley Writers.

Our mission is to support and encourage local writers and to learn more about the business end of getting published. We realize it takes a village to raise a writer. Once a month, we meet to celebrate the written word. We read our own works, offer feedback, and share our publishing journeys.

Writers in all genres are welcome. We’re poets, memoirists, humorists, true crime, sci-fi, historical fiction, essay, and romance writers. Our members have published novels and chapbooks, literary articles and biographies.

If you are a writer, if you want to be a writer, or if you just like hanging around with writers, please come see what we’re all about. We meet the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Wheeling Artisan Center. Follow us on Facebook, too.
